Name: Akikuluk Shappa

Bio: Akikuluk Shappa was born on July 18th, 1948 in Qiqquarjuujan, also known as McBean Bay located, on the west side of the Brodeur Peninsula. He has lived in Arctic Bay all of his life. Akikuluk has two sons and two daughters. He began carving for a source of income. Today he still enjoys carving. He is most accustomed to working with caribou antlers, ivory, soapstone and musk ox horns. He hopes to start his own carving business over the Internet. He thinks it is a good opportunity for him as well as others.
