Meaning: Named for the flat rocks here used to make ulus. This is a very old name. There some very old sod houses in the area, made by Tuniit. Good camping and seal hunting destination, sometimes caribou. A long time ago whaling ships anchored here. An Inuk stole something from the ships, and several Inuit were killed. There are some very old graves in the area.
